Amelia's Rainbow, a Dorset based charity that supports local children who have a complex disability or serious or terminal illness, has been named as Morrish Homes Charity of the Year.
Money raised and donated by the family run housebuilder will go towards funding the vital work of Amelia's Rainbow which includes providing Rainbow Gifts to families in need. The Rainbow Gifts are diverse with examples including days out, adapted tricycles, laptops with speech therapy software and social activities such as swimming or dancing lessons.
Morrish Homes will also be undertaking a refurbishment of Amelia's Retreat – a holiday home that is available for families to use free of charge throughout the year. The retreat provides over 50 families a year with the opportunity to create happy memories and a chance to get away from it all.
Tim Bishop, Associate Director – Sales & Marketing at Morrish homes, said: “The whole team at Morrish Homes are delighted with our partnership with Amelia's Rainbow. We hope that some of our exciting plans can support Amelia's Rainbow with their amazing work to help local children and families to have fun through tough times.”
Farah Batchelor, the Charity Manager for Amelia's Rainbow, said “Being a small charity supporting over 170 families means we need a lot of help raising money and providing safe facilities. We were over the moon to hear Morrish Homes understood our mission of supporting families through their times of need and wanted help. It's true that a lot of our families suffer emotional and financial hardship, so supporting them really is the right thing to do. We are looking forward to a year of working together and making a real difference...whilst having a little bit of fun too!”
